About Lesley Storkey
Happily married to a Toastmasters with five children and 15 grandchildren (yes, I know, it’s a lot!!) + one pup, a rescue pup. “Sam” is a Catahoula X and is testing my skills in training and correct veterinary practice.
Unfortunately our family is scattered throughout Australia however I value every moment on Zoom or the trips interstate.
I trained as a Veterinarian and practised in a mostly large animal field however have been a retired vet for some years now.
I have been incredibly fortunate in travelling extensively from a very early age. Born in England, I also lived in Scotland and Singapore for many years before making Australia my home as a teenager when my father was transferred. I have continued to travel to many countries, meeting Toastmasters around the globe and also having the opportunity to speak and train in many varied cultures.
Why do I love to travel?
The opportunity to meet people of different cultures, backgrounds and experiences. To be curious and ask people to talk about their life, thereby gaining a greater understanding of our differences but also appreciating our similarities!
In my spare time…
…I love to walk, especially on the beach and to read everything and virtually anything! I enjoy experimenting with new recipes although, for me, meals with family and friends is about the socialisation, not necessarily the food!
